Cobal provides a range of design, production, and installation services including signage, wayfinding, placemaking, brand implementation, and project delivery.  

We’re known for an empathetic and creative approach to design, manufacture, and project delivery that gets under the skin of a project, but also for delivering results.  

Our factory and design department are based in Berkshire, from where we serve a client base across the UK and EMEA, including blue chip companies, global brands, and companies, as well as collaborations with leading architectural practices. 

Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Technical Designer to join our small Design team in creating bespoke signage, wayfinding and placemaking designs for a variety of projects. The focus of the role is designing projects, ensuring success via an efficient workshop that is working from high quality and accurate design. 

 The Role 

  • Brand management for selected key clients
  • Produce 2D and 3D designs for client approval  
  • Signage, wayfinding and place making elements, including specification
  • Circulation, wayfinding and information strategies & guidelines
  • Graphic elements such as colour palettes, typography, setting out, pictograms
  • Sign placement audits, plans and content schedules
  • Production-ready artworking
  • Follow current drawing standards and procedures, and legislation, e.g. BS559
  • Participate in and lead design development and sign design meetings
  • Support wider team members through research, document creation, and graphic work.

About You 

  • You will be naturally creative with a proven level of competence in Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop
  • Ability to manage multiple projects to agreed timescales and the flexibility to respond to changing priorities
  • Highly organised, with a meticulous attention to detail
  • Dedication to providing excellent customer service
  • Excellent written, verbal and visual communication skills.
  • The ability to read architectural plans and elevations
  • Ideally, knowledge of BS8888:1 for drawing production
  • Practical with a broad knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes
